The name of the proposed study program is the Postgraduate Doctoral Study in Biomedicine and Health Sciences. It belongs to the scientific domain of Biomedicine and Health Sciences, and the scientific fields of Fundamental Medical Sciences and Clinical Medical Sciences.
The aim of the Postgraduate Doctoral Study in Biomedicine and Health Sciences is to qualify students for independent scientific and research work in the scientific domain of Biomedicine and Health Sciences. It will be achieved through the acquisition of proficiency in modern methodology for scientific and research work, the acquisition of skills and competences based on new scientific findings and technology, and the acquisition of attitudes in accordance with the highest ethical norms valid in the mentioned scientific domain.
The purpose of the study is to qualify the student for independent scientific, research and academic work at university, scientific institutes, university and clinical hospitals, health institutions and institutes, as well as for work in the business sector, which requires scientific solutions to working assignments and decision making (analysis, synthesis, evaluation) and a high-level scientific approach (projects, communication, presentation).
The study programme will continue to educate competent scientific, research and academic personnel at the Faculty of Medicine of Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek. In other words, the postgraduate education of the scientific, research and academic personnel at the Faculty of Medicine in Osijek was launched in the academic year 2000/2001. The same year the Scientific Postgraduate (Master's and Doctor's) Study in Biomedicine was started in accordance with the previous Act on Scientific Activity and Higher Education. The last generation of attendees to the study in compliance with the previous Act enrolled the first year of study in the academic year 2003/2004.
